The creative performing arts are essential elements of a complete educational experience. The education of our students in these disciplines is critical to their success as they proceed through the 21st century.

Essential in a quality music education program is the active involvement of all students as creators and performers. All students in the Dennis Township School District experience the fundamental forms of performance, production, and artistic creation. Music Program Goals

Content:

1. Demonstrates the ability to sing, alone and with others, a varied repertoire of music.
2. Demonstrates the ability to perform on instruments, alone and with others, a varied repertoire of music.
3. Demonstrates the ability to read and notate music.
4. Demonstrates the ability to compose and arrange music within specified guidelines.
5. Demonstrates the ability to improvise melodies, variations and accompaniments.
6. Demonstrates the ability to select and apply the appropriate criteria to music and musical performances.
7. Demonstrates an understanding of the relationship between music, history and culture.

Art Program Goals

Content:

1. Demonstrates the ability to create, alone and with others, a variety of artistic compositions.
2. Demonstrates the ability to understand the elements of different forms of artistic expression.
3. Demonstrates the ability to utilize the elements of compositions with a variety of mediums.
4. Demonstrates the ability to select and apply the appropriate techniques to create a piece of artwork.
5. Demonstrates an understanding of the relationship between art, history, and culture.
